City center, beyond Republic square

Muzej Nikola Tesla  , Proleterskih brigada 51 (open 10-12, 16-18, Sat-Sun 10-13, Mon closed)(++). Museum dedicated to the Serb (born in what is now Croatia) physicist and inventor Nikola Tesla, who among other things competed successfully with Edison to develop the first practical method to produce and distribute electric energy. Hand on displays, recommended for children. Captions in English, some English leaflets and books, competent guide.

University Library  , Boulevar revolucjie.

Muzej revolucije  , trg Nikole Pasica 11 (open 10-17). The Museum, whose full name is Museum of the Revolution of the Nations and Nationalities of Yugoslavia is at present closed to visitors. In 1997 there was, at the ground floor, an exhibition (+-) on the Jasenovac concentration camp in which the Croat ustasa   killed, between 1941 and 1945, a few hundred thousand Serb, gypsies and Jews. Interesting to understand why the hate is not over, but to be recommended only to the hardened hearts. Other museums celebrating the former regime include Tito's last residence and tomb on the Topcider hill, but I have not been able to check the opening times.
